AIM Supports NICU Mothers and Babies At Baptist Health

AIM has partnered closely with Baptist Health’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (July 11, 2024) - As part of its mission to help improve maternal health in Arkansas, AIM has partnered closely with Baptist Health’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) this past month to support mothers and babies.

In early June, AIM was a proud participant and sponsor of Baptist Health’s 3rd annual NICU reunion, an event that celebrates former NICU babies and parents and the healthcare heroes who cared for them. Over 500 families and hospital staff celebrated this momentous occasion.

AIM continued its support of Baptist Health’s NICU with a donation of handheld mirrors and notebooks for mothers to use when visiting their babies in the NICU.

"This thoughtful contribution will help to further enhance the support that parents receive as we provide care to the tiniest and most vulnerable patients," said Nicki Knowles, Director of Women’s and Children’s Services at Baptist Health. "We cannot thank our donors enough for their commitment to our mission."

AIM Executive Director Ashley Bearden Campbell said, “As a mom who has spent many hours at this very NICU during the start of my daughter’s life, I am honored to be able to support Baptist Health through AIM. The nurses and staff were remarkable during our 70-day stay and took amazing care of my daughter while also helping me through my postpartum journey. As many NICU moms quickly learn, skin-to-skin time, also known as kangaroo care, is very important for bonding. A handheld mirror may not seem like much, but when your baby is in a fragile state, this important tool allows you to visually connect, monitor and safely provide comfort to your baby. Additionally, having a journal to document my daughter’s progress, write down questions and keep track of her care team was incredibly helpful, as phones are typically limited or not permitted in the NICU. As AIM continues to focus on taking care of moms before, during and after pregnancy, our hope is that this donation will positively impact families throughout their NICU and postpartum journeys.”
