AIM Supports Arkansas Mothers During National Breastfeeding Month

Launches Digital Resource Guide to Support Mothers and Babies

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (August 23, 2024) — This August, Arkansans for Improving Maternal Health (AIM) is proud to celebrate National Breastfeeding Month through the launch of its new digital breastfeeding resource guide to help support Arkansas mothers and babies.

“Outcomes are deeply influenced by the support and resources available to us, especially in the early days of parenting,” said Sondra Rodocker, IBCLC, co-founder and treasurer of the board of directors of the Doula Alliance of Arkansas. “When new parents have access to essential resources like breastfeeding/lactation support, educational tools and a caring community, the benefits – including better health, less stress and the confidence to make informed decisions – are undeniable. Without these, many moms may struggle with feelings of inadequacy that can impact their ability to care for themselves and their new baby. By investing in these resources, we’re giving every mother and baby the best possible start, helping to create healthier, happier families and communities.”

AIM’s new guide provides best practices and tips for a successful breastfeeding experience. It covers key topics including the benefits and challenges of breastfeeding, the relationship between mental health and breastfeeding, alternative feeding options and a list of local Arkansas resources for moms.

“We believe access to reliable and comprehensive information is crucial for mothers across the state who are choosing to breastfeed,” said AIM Executive Director Ashley Bearden Campbell. “Our digital resource guide is designed to be a one-stop resource for mothers as they navigate the journey of breastfeeding.”
